UBC Psychology faculty receive 2015 Dean of Arts Faculty Research Award and Killam Teaching Prize

Join us in congratulating prof. Liisa Galea, recipient of the 2015 Dean of Arts Faculty Research Award. This award allows research faculty one semester to concentrate entirely on research without teaching or administrative duties. This research can be associated with starting a new research program, conducting intensive research, or completing an existing project.
Liisa Galea is a Distinguished University Scholar and Professor in the Department of Psychology. Dr. Galea’s research interests include reproductive experience effects on maternal brain health; depression and relation to sex and stress hormones; how aging impacts neuroplasticity; and adult neurogenesis in the hippocampus and relation to cognition and stress.

Catherine Rawn


Congratulations to prof. Catherine Rawn, recipient of the 2015 Killam Teaching Prize. These awards recognize distinguished teaching at all levels of instruction. Winners are selected by an adjudicating committee comprising previous prize recipients, student representatives, and colleagues appointed by the Dean’s Office. Winners will be recognized by Dean Gage Averill on May 7.
Catherine Rawn is a Senior Instructor in the Department of Psychology. Dr. Rawn’s teaching interests include quantitative research methods and statistics, introductory psychology, peer- and group-based learning methods including group testing and peer review, and other evidence-based practice.
