Congratulations to our researchers who were awarded CFI funding.
UBC Psychology faculty members Dr. Jessica Flake, an associate professor and Dr. Joan Ongchoco, an assistant professor, received funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation’s (CFI) John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF).
JELF is a critical strategic investment tool designed to help institutions attract and retain the very best researchers. A total of 31 projects led by UBC researchers were awarded a collective $5.7 million in funding.
This funding will allow allow Dr. Flake and Dr. Ongchoco to expand their research programs through new infrastructure and equipment.
Dr. Flake’s research focuses on the development of measurement practices for psychological research with an emphasis on instrument development and use, particularly in large-scale research settings. Her JELF funding supports Dr. Flake’s Social Sciences Methods and Measurement Laboratory.
Dr. Ongchoco’s research is driven by her curiosity about how perception, particularly visual perception, intersects with various aspects of mental life. Her JELF funding supports the research project: An integrative approach towards understanding intelligence: Bridging the ‘seeing’ versus ‘thinking’ divide
Join us in congratulating Dr. Flake and Dr. Ongchoco!
