Congratulations to Dr. David King, recipient of a 2025-26 UBC Killam Teaching Prize.
Dr. David King, a lecturer in UBC’s department of psychology, received this award in recognition of his teaching excellence and dedication to student learning.
The UBC Killam Teaching Prize is awarded annually to faculty nominated by students, colleagues, and alumni in recognition of excellence in teaching.
“I’m incredibly honoured to be receiving this award, and so grateful for the support of the department and all of the amazing students I’ve met over the years. I’ve always strived to inspire my students and make an impact that extends beyond the classroom, and this award reinforces my commitment to that approach”
Dr. King takes an engaging and collaborative approach to teaching by encouraging critical thinking, open discussion, and mutual respect in the classroom. He focuses on guiding students rather than directing them, with the goal of helping them gain insights they can apply beyond the classroom.
