UBC Psychology researchers receive national research funding from NSERC



UBC Psychology researchers recently received new and continued funding through the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Discovery Grants and Discovery Accelerator Supplement (DAS) programs.

NSERC’s Discovery Grants support ongoing research programs with long-term goals and build the foundation for innovation. These grants recognize the creativity and innovation that are at the heart of all research advances.

Valued at $120,000 over three years, the competitive DAS awards are valued at $120,000 over three years and are awarded to researchers with strong potential to become international leaders in their field.

Liisa Galea

In addition to ongoing Discovery Grant funding of $79,000, Dr. Liisa Galea received a 2018 Discovery Accelerator Supplement towards her research Hormones and Learning and Memory.

Daniela Palombo

Dr. Daniela Palombo received a $33,000 Discovery Grant for her research Remembering in the Real World: Effects of Emotion. She also received $12,500 through the early career Discovery Launch Supplement program.

Catharine Rankin

Dr. Catharine Rankin received a $55,000 Discovery Grant for her research Behavioural, Optogenetic and Genetic Dissection of Simple Forms of Plasticity.

Kiran Soma

Dr. Kiran Soma received a $47,000 Discovery Grant (x 5 years) for his research Glucocorticoids and Development of the Immune System. He also received a 2019 Discovery Accelerator Supplement.
