World university rankings recognize UBC Psychology for its excellence in teaching and research as well as its global impact.
Times Higher Education
UBC’s Department of Psychology placed 20th in the world and second in Canada in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) global rankings by subject. This year’s psychology ranking includes 694 universities from 64 countries and territories, up from 654 in 2025.
THE’s 2026 World University Rankings psychology subject ranking uses the same 18 performance indicators as the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026, recalibrated to suit the psychology field.
The 2026 psychology ranking evaluates universities across several narrower disciplines: clinical psychology, educational psychology, sport psychology, business psychology and animal psychology.

UBC Psychology ranks 21st in the world and second in Canada in the 2026 QS World University subject rankings for the psychology discipline. Based on an analysis of the research output and reputation of over 6,000 institutions worldwide, the QS World University Rankings by subject provide a comparative analysis of university programs.
