UBC Psychology ranks among the world’s best in 2025

World university rankings recognize UBC Psychology for its excellence in teaching and research as well as its global impact.

Times Higher Education

UBC’s Department of Psychology placed 17th in the world and second in Canada in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) global rankings by subject. This year’s psychology ranking includes 654 universities from 66 countries and territories, up from 621 in 2024

THE’s 2025 World University Rankings psychology subject ranking uses the same rigorous performance indicators as the Times Higher Education 2025 World University Rankings, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the discipline.

The psychology disciplines assessed in the 2025 rankings are:

  • Clinical Psychology: psychological assessment and therapeutic approaches
  • Educational Psychology: learning and developmental studies
  • Sport Psychology: athletic performance and motivation
  • Business Psychology: organisational behaviour and workplace psychology
  • Animal Psychology: animal behaviour and comparative psychology

UBC Psychology ranks 19th in the world and second in Canada in the QS 2025 World University Rankings. Over 350 universities are included in this year’s psychology ranking.
