The Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia – Vancouver campus (www.psych.ubc.ca) invites applications for two full-time renewable 12-Month Lecturer positions in Psychology. Each appointment will be for 12 months with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2016.
The successful candidates will be expected to teach on-campus undergraduate courses in psychology.
The posts will include responsibility for the design, development and production of teaching, learning and assessment materials and the delivery of seminars, lectures, and tutorials, mentorship of students and Teaching Assistants, as well as participation in faculty committees. The teaching load will be 24 credits across the period of appointment, distributed typically as a 3/3 load in Winter session and 2 courses in Summer sessions. Consideration for reappointment will be based on demonstrated excellence in teaching and service, and availability of funding.
The successful applicants must have a PhD in psychology or similar discipline. They will possess sufficient breadth and depth of core and specialist knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by considerable experience in developing and delivering university courses, and evidence of the use of a range of academic learning tools and delivery techniques to engage students. The successful candidates will have evidence of excellent teaching (as reflected, for example, in student evaluations and peer reviews); will be expected to work flexibly and on their own initiative; and will be able to demonstrate the ability to teach across a wide range of courses within our program. These include courses in introductory psychology and/or research methods, as well as courses in their area of specialization.
The starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. These positions are subject to final budgetary approval.
