

Join us in congratulating Dr. Jessica Flake, who received the Anne Anastasi Distinguished Early Career Contributions Award from Division 5 (Quantitative and Qualitative Methods) of the American Psychological Association.
Dr. Flake, an associate professor in UBC’s department of psychology, earned this recognition for her innovative and influential contributions to advancing quantitative methods in psychological research.
The Anne Anastasi Distinguished Early Career Contributions Award recognizes an early-career individual who has made outstanding contributions to quantitative research methods in academic, clinical, government, or industry settings.
Advancing measurement in psychology
Dr. Flake’s research focuses on strengthening the validity, reliability, and transparency of measurement practices in psychology. Her work seeks to ensure that psychological constructs are defined and measured clearly, so that research findings can be interpreted, replicated, and built upon across studies. Through this work, she contributes to improving both the scientific rigour and the theoretical precision of psychological research.
At UBC, Dr. Flake leads the Flake Lab, which develops and disseminates open-science tools, tutorials, and frameworks to help researchers design, evaluate, and communicate psychological measurement more effectively.
