The Ask A Developmental Psychologist series features Q&A sessions with the directors of UBC’s Early Development Research Group.

Have you ever wondered why babies behave in certain ways or how children develop essential skills? Perhaps, you’ve just been curious about what certain psychological concepts mean? This is your chance to ask some of the world’s leading experts in the field!

Speaker:

Dr. Darko Odic, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at UBC.

Topic:

Early math education

Description:

As humans, there are individual differences in how quickly we understand new information and even learn new skills. This shows early in our development as children. The most common example is math. Why are some children so quick to grasp math concepts while others still struggle after years of formal education? What innate abilities do children have that may influence their ability to learn complex subjects like math?

In this Q&A session, Dr. Odic from the Centre for Cognitive Development will be answering all your questions about early math education.

Join the EDRG with your burning questions, or just listen in on what others have to say!
