Dr. Michel completed her PhD in Clinical Science at Harvard University. Her predoctoral internship was completed at the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University (Child Track). She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the DBT Centre of Vancouver.


About

Dr. Michel is a sessional lecturer in the Department of Psychology, initially joining the faculty in 2011 and teaching annually since 2018. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in clinical psychology.

Outside of UBC, Dr. Michel is the Director of the Child, Adolescent, and Family (CAF) Division at the DBT Centre of Vancouver, where she has practiced since 2017.

Dr. Michel’s research interests include child and adolescent suicide and nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) and severe emotion dysregulation, as well as caregiver interventions for their families.
