Dr. Catharine Winstanley was named a first-time recipient of the 2014 Scientific Achievement Award from the National Center for Responsible Gaming (NCRG). She received this award in recognition of her invaluable contributions to the field of research for gambling disorder and responsible gaming. Join us in congratulating her on this honour!
Dr. Winstanley is an Associate Professor in UBC’s Department of Psychology, a Michael Smith Early Career Scholar, a CIHR New Investigator and has received numerous awards for her research. She is recognized internationally as an expert in the study of impulsivity and gambling-related decision-making. She is among the first scientists to focus on modeling gambling processes in laboratory animals in a manner that reflects the decision-making processes experienced by humans when they gamble.
