Psychology researchers awarded the UBC Killam Faculty Research Prizes



Congratulations to Dr. Joelle LeMoult and Dr. Jeremy Biesanz for receiving the UBC Killam Faculty Research Prizes for the academic year of 2023/2024!

The UBC Killam Faculty Research Prize recognizes outstanding research and scholarly contributions. The award also considers research impact and leadership in the specified discipline or field of study. A total of ten research prizes were awarded to full-time tenure-stream faculty at UBC.

About Dr. LeMoult and Dr. Biesanz

Dr. Joelle LeMoult

Dr. LeMoult’s research focuses on depression and psychobiological responses to stress and understanding how depression develops and unfolds across the lifespan. She also works to integrate cognitive, biological, and emotional measures to better elucidate the link between stress and depression. She is the Director of the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Laboratory, a Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Scholar, and a registered clinical psychologist.

Dr. Jeremy Biesanz

Dr. Biesanz’s research focuses on social psychology, social perception, developmental psychology, personality, and welfare. Much of his study explores developmental psychology’s relationship to social influence. He is the Principal Investigator at the Social Accuracy Lab, where the focus lies on investigating the process of interpersonal impressions and exploring the impressions individuals form about the stable and global personality traits of others and the self.
