The Faculty of Arts recently announced eight Arts-led research excellence clusters that will receive funding through the Research Excellence Clusters initiative in 2022/23.
These clusters are inter-departmental networks of researchers at UBC who collectively represent leaders in a particular field of study. Funding is awarded through Grants for Catalyzing Research Clusters (GCRC)competitions.
Two established Research Excellence Clusters led by Psychology faculty members Dr. Liisa Galea and Dr. Jiaying Zhao received renewed funding in 2022/23.
The Women’s Health Research Cluster (WHRC) led by Dr. Liisa Galea is a network of women’s health researchers and stakeholders that are interested in how sex and gender play a role in health outcomes.
WHRC works towards creating a future where women can live equitably healthy lives by promoting, expanding, and catalyzing impactful research on women’s health.
Decision Insights for Business & Society (UBC-DIBS) led by Dr. Jiaying Zhao uses decision science to better understand decision-making, encourage long-term behavior change, and work toward an environmentally, economically, and socially sustainable future.
Its mission is to improve outcomes across major societal and planetary challenges by helping people make better choices—choices that are better for themselves and for the world.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Galea’s and Dr. Zhao’s teams on this recognition!
