FEATURING
Prof. Sue Frantz, Highline College
TITLE
Technology for Academics: Essential Tools for Teaching
ABSTRACT
Step up to the technology buffet. This spread of easy-to-use and (mostly) free tools has something for everybody. Looking to spice up your classroom? Want to make the hard-to-swallow tasks of an academic go down more smoothly? There are tools in here that you didn’t even know you needed. The handout offers over 40 different tools; this session will demonstrate about a quarter of them. For example, Plickers is a different kind of audience response system, Trello will track your projects, Nudgemail will empty your email inbox, Fences will corral all of those icons on your Windows desktop, and LastPass will keep track of all of your (encrypted!) passwords. Bring your phone, tablet, or laptop and try them out for yourself.
