Dr. Flake’s lab conducts applied measurement and modeling research. Generally she is interested in psychological measurement, spanning from theoretical and qualitative issues in instrument development to psychometric latent variables models. She also often collaborates with others to study students’ achievement motivation and other non-cognitive skills.

Current work in the lab includes developing open science practices for methodological research with a focus on registration and registered reports, as well as analysis planning for psychometric and random effects models.
