Rin – Pets of UBC Psych

Learn more about Rin and her climbing adventures!

Meet Rin, the delightful 6-year-old Tabby, affectionately known by many names—Rinnycakes, Baby, Gelato, and Rinbaby. She’s the affectionate green-eyed cat of undergraduate student Roxy Aneculaesei and she’s always got mischief up her paws.

Rin has a peculiar yet endearing sleeping habit—she claims the centre of the bed as her own, leaving little room for anyone else. Similar to our previous submission E-mail, Rin’s love for treats knows no bounds; a mere shake of the treat bag sends her dashing towards the sound with enthusiasm. From the salty crunch of chips to the sweetness of doughnuts, Rin’s palate is surprisingly diverse.

Rin patiently waiting for someone to spare some doughnuts and chips for her to munch on.

With her unique personality, Rin lives a charming indoor/outdoor life, always keeping her family on their toes. Owing to Rinnycake’s quirky habits, her family has some interesting stories to share about Rin and her fleeting tendencies!

“One day while searching for her in our neighbourhood we heard a rustling in a tree in our neighbour's yard. We proceeded to find that Rin had climbed a tree in order to avoid us taking her home. She has an Apple air tag now.”

Though Rinbaby is generally a quiet cat, she brims with energy, especially when playing in the backyard or bouncing on the trampoline. She’s a loving companion, but she makes it clear that cuddles are strictly on her terms. Roxy shares that Rin celebrated her 6th birthday a few months ago, marking another year of joy and playful mischief.

We’re so here for Rin’s adorable stare and quirky habits!
