Psychology faculty receive 2021 UBC Faculty Research Awards



Dr. Connor Kerns and Dr. Kristin Laurin, associate professors in UBC’s department of psychology, were awarded UBC Killam Research Prizes. These awards recognize outstanding research and scholarly contributions of faculty from disciplines including medicine and applied sciences to arts, social sciences and humanities.

Dr. Kristin Laurin is a social psychologist and director of the Motivation And Goals In Contexts Lab (MAGIC Lab). She studies how people’s goals and motivations interact with their beliefs and ideologies – about politics, about religion, or about the nature of the world.

Connor Kerns

Dr. Connor Kerns is a clinical psychologist and director of the Anxiety Stress and Autism Program (ASAP Lab). Her research is focused on the assessment and treatment of anxiety and stress-related disorders in children on the autism spectrum.

UBC Faculty Research Award winners are selected by UBC’s Faculty Research Award Committee. The committee is composed of UBC faculty members who adjudicate internal awards and prizes that recognize excellence in research by UBC faculty members in a variety of disciplines.
