Adopted from Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association (VOKRA), Holly (Tuxedo cat) and Sassafras (Tortoiseshell cat) belong to Bonnie Vockeroth, UBC Psychology’s communication specialist. VOKRA’s mission is to “end cat overpopulation and homelessness” by rescuing and keeping cats and kittens off the street.
Tortoiseshell cats are known for their attitude (also called tortitude!) and Sassafras is no exception. Bonnie says she definitely lives up to her name—lots of sass! Holly, on the other hand, is a super chill cat whose main goal in life is to plunk herself in a sunbeam.
Bonnie got Sassafras for her birthday in January and found that it worked out to be the best time to start taking care of a new little one. “It made staying at home way better! Holly has taken some time to accept the “new addition” but now plays with her little sister. I highly recommend getting a ‘COVID kitten’!”
