Dr. Jiaying Zhao (she/her) has been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal in recognition of her outstanding contributions to research and society.

The Coronation Medal was created to mark the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, which took place on May 6, 2023. It is the first Canadian commemorative medal to mark a coronation. Recipients have made a significant contribution to Canada or attained an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada.

Dr. Jiaying Zhao is an associate professor in the department of psychology and the Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability at UBC.

A behavioural scientist, Dr. Zhao’s work intersects with cognitive science, sustainability, and poverty— shedding light on how behavioural interventions can combat environmental and financial challenges.
