Formal enrolment awards are intended for Canadians who plan to enroll in a graduate program at an American university. Research awards are intended for students enrolled in a graduate program in Canada who wish to conduct research at a host institution in the United States for one academic year. Independent research awards are intended for researchers who have completed an undergraduate degree or a Master’s degree at a Canadian university and who wish to pursue one year of independent research in the United States. Grantees are expected to use the award to offset expenses such as housing, travel, tuition, and the like.
