Dr. Samantha Dawson awarded CFI’s John R. Evans Leaders Fund

Dr. Samantha Dawson’s SWell Lab awarded JELF funding

Join UBC Psychology in congratulating Dr. Samantha Dawson for receiving the JELF Fund through the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI).

Dr. Samantha Dawson’s Sexuality and Well-being Lab received funding from Canada Foundation for Innovation’s John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF).

The SWell Lab conducts research to identify risk and protective factors contributing to individuals’ and couples’ sexual health and well-being. The funding will help Dr. Dawson and her team to get a renovated lab space where they will have access to one-of-a-kind psychophysiology and observation infrastructure. This new space and equipment will allow Dr. Dawson and her team to conduct cutting-edge science to better understand factors contributing to sexual function and sexual well-being in individuals and couples.

The aim of the JELF is to help universities more competitively recruit and retain outstanding researchers by helping acquire the state-of-the-art labs, equipment and facilities they need to make discoveries that will have an impact on Canadians.

“Canada is world-renowned for our state-of-the-art institutions and talented researchers. Through this Fund, our government is strengthening our leadership and competitive advantage by supporting Canadians to pursue discoveries, overcome challenges and innovate to make a more prosperous, equitable and sustainable future for all.”
Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry
