Congratulations to Dr. Jiaying Zhao, associate professor in UBC’s department of psychology, and lead of the Decision Insights for Business & Society (DIBS) research excellence cluster who received renewed funding.

A total of 45 research excellence clusters led by researchers at UBC Vancouver will be supported through the Research Excellence Clusters initiative in 2024/25. Funding is awarded through Grants for Catalyzing Research Clusters (GCRC) competitions. Clusters are recognized as either established or emerging depending on multiple factors relating to their developmental stage and funding requirements. These clusters are composed of researchers across departments at UBC who work together as leaders in their respective field(s) of study.

DIBS’ mission is to improve outcomes across major societal and planetary challenges by improving our understanding of decision-making, encouraging long-term behaviour change, and working together toward an environmentally, economically, and socially sustainable future. DIBS has several goals, including:

  • Conducting cutting-edge behavioural science research;
  • Working with our partners in government, industry, and beyond to apply insights and methods from behavioural research to real-world challenges;
  • Helping people develop their applied behavioural science knowledge and skills;
  • Growing and supporting the network of behavioural science experts and enthusiasts.

Join us in congratulating Dr. Jiaying Zhao and the entire DIBS team!
