UBC Psychology Professor Eric Eich has been named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the world’s largest general scientific society. The lifetime honour of being an elected AAAS Fellow is in recognition of Eich’s extraordinary achievements in advancing psychological science.
“I’m honoured to be named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and happy to share this title with several of my closest friends, mentors, and colleagues.”
Election as a AAAS Fellow is an honour bestowed upon AAAS members by their peers in recognition of their scientifically or socially distinguished efforts to advance science or its applications. Eich was nominated by Dr. Henry L. Roediger, a James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor and Professor of Psychological & Brain Sciences, Washington University.
“Eric Eich was elected a Fellow of AAAS for his pioneering research on human memory, particularly his elucidation of the the phenomena of state-dependent retrieval and emotion-dependent retrieval, and his great service to the field. He served as editor of Psychological Science, one of the field’s premier journals, and he instituted reforms in the journal that brought it to a new level.”
This year, 416 members have been awarded this honour by AAAS. Dr. Eich and the other new Fellows will be presented with an official certificate and a rosette pin at the AAAS annual meeting in Washington, D.C., on February 16, 2019.
