The Journal of Gambling Issues (JGI) is pleased to introduce its inaugural Scholars Award for Research Excellence, an annual competition designed to support outstanding scholars in problem gambling. Graduate scholars and postdoctoral fellows conducting research inproblem gambling are invited to submit their best work for publication in a special section of JGI. Those who have completed graduate or post-doctoral training are also eligible providing that they are within five years from completion of their training at the time of submission, and that the work they are submitting was conducted as agraduate student or post-doctoral fellow. Articles will be considered for publication in the JGI and will undergo the same peer review as regular articles submitted to the journal. From all articles accepted for publication in response to the call for submissions, a designated Awards Committee comprised of members of the JGI Editorial Board, will select the best article in each of two streams: (a) clinical, social, and/or policy research, and (b) cognitive, developmental, biobehavioural, and/or neuroimaging research.
