UBC’s Department of Psychology ranks twelfth in the world and first in Canada in the 2019 subject rankings by Times Higher Education (THE). In 2018, THE expanded the number of subject areas used in their rankings and in this expansion psychology became separate from social sciences. The 2019 psychology rankings includes 463 universities, up from 101 in 2018.
The 2019 THE World University Rankings’ table for psychology subjects uses the same rigorous and balanced range of 13 performance indicators as the overall World University Rankings, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the individual fields. It highlights the universities that are leading across psychology; educational, sport, business and animal psychology; and clinical psychology subjects.
