About
Yangyilin Guo (she/her) is a graduate student in the social & personality area, co-supervised by Dr. Friedrich Götz and Dr. Steven Heine. Originally from China, she completed her BA in Psychology at McGill University. Currently, she engages in multiple international collaborations and employs a Big Data approach and cross-cultural methods in her research, which focuses on cultural, geographical, personality, and gender psychology. More specifically, Yangyilin’s work involves mapping regional personality traits within various countries and exploring their ecological antecedents and societal impacts; developing scales on concepts such as female cohesion and wanderlust; and investigating acculturation experiences, cultural fit, and well-being in diverse populations. Additionally, she is dedicated to making psychology research more accessible to underrepresented students and populations.
Beyond research, Yangyilin is also fascinated by photography, traveling and exploring different cultures, learning new languages, and tasting diverse cuisines.
