PEBL: AI Chatbots, Distress, and Suicidal Thoughts Study

Have you talked to AI chatbots about suicidal thoughts?

Now more than ever, young adults are turning to AI chatbots for mental health. Dr. David Klonsky and researchers in the Personality, Emotion, and Behaviour Lab (PEBL) want to better understand your lived experience, in your own words, regarding conversations about suicidal thoughts or related serious distress specifically.

Eligibility: 

  • UBC students
  • Ages 18-29
  • Fluent in English
  • Have lived experience talking to an AI chatbot about suicidal thoughts or related distress

About the study:

  • 1-hour confidential Zoom interview with a clinical psychology graduate student (webcams can be off during the session)
  • Participants will be asked to share their lived experiencing talking to AI chatbots about suicidal thoughts and related distress

Compensation:

$25 CAD
