UBC psychology researchers awarded CIHR project grants

Psychology researchers are among the 59 UBC researchers who have been awarded more than $42m from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) through the latest Project Grant competition. A total of $372m was awarded nationally to support Canadian researchers to study the full spectrum of health issues affecting the lives of Canadians.
The psychology researchers receiving funding for their health research projects are:

  • Dr. Frances Chen
    Project: Assessing the role of adolescent hormonal contraceptive use on risk for depression.
  • Dr. Joelle LeMoult
    Project: Characterizing the peripheral biology of depression, social anxiety, and their comorbidity.
  • Dr. Catharine Winstanley 
    Project: The effects of reward cues on risky decision making: the role of dopamine and relevance to addiction. Dr. Winstanley will be collaborating with Dr. Luke Clark and the Centre for Gambling Research at UBC on this research project.
