Meet Poppy the bunny- Pets of UBC Psych

Poppy the bunny

Meet Poppy, a four-year-old Harlequin mix bunny.

According to undergraduate student Edith Liu, Poppy is a social and intelligent bunny.

“All my friends know that I refer to him as my little brother because of how friendly he is. He loves to give kisses and groom his humans to show affection.”

“Poppy also knows the entire layout of my house and loves to roam around! Poppy is an escape artist. Although he has his own room (a rental unit, way bigger than mine), he takes every opportunity to escape. He would dash to whoever that opens any door in his room and uses all his power to run to other parts of my house. I guess the entire house is his territory now!”

Poppy also responds to his nicknames Pops or Pop—more often than Poppy.

And Poppy is not afraid to let his humans know what he wants. Edith says, “If I’m in his room, he’ll come up to me, use his nose to nudge me and grunt if he wants something. If I’m not in his room, he’ll flip his metal food bowl to make loud noises to make me come to his room.”
