Supporting wellbeing in the classroom.
Congratulations to Dr. Lillian May, who is the recipient of a 2026 UBC Wellbeing Strategic Initiative Fund!

Dr. Lillian May
Dr. May, a lecturer in UBC’s department of psychology, received funding towards the project Student-Led Consultations for Diversifying Psychology Course Readings. This project aims to enhance belonging and wellbeing among a diverse student body by piloting a student-partnered initiative. Teams of supervised undergraduate students will identify potential Psychology course readings that include or focus on traditionally underrepresented or marginalized populations.
The fund supports departments and units at UBC’s Vancouver and Okanagan campuses to support our commitment to the Okanagan Charter to become a health and wellbeing-promoting institution, as outlined in UBC’s Wellbeing Strategic Framework.
This year, $138,399 in funding supported 27 projects from four focus areas. Applications spanned eight VP Portfolios, 12 Faculties and two UBC affiliated societies/associations across UBC Vancouver and Okanagan.
