Mother’s Day Traditional Powwow

Join our Indigenous Initiatives Committee at the Mother’s Day Traditional Powwow at the Trout Lake Community Centre on the afternoon of Saturday, May 9.

There will be traditional performances featuring various drumming groups and dancers and an Indigenous market with local vendors. It is free for all ages, no registration required.

This event takes place on the traditional and unceded Coast Salish territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓ əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and sə̓ lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

The goal of Celebrating INdigenous Culture and History (CINCH) is to build community and cultivate our knowledge of Indigenous culture and history on Turtle Island,


UBC’s Point Grey Campus is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) people. The land it is situated on has been a place of intergenerational learning for the Musqueam people from time immemorial.
